Effective August 29, the United States has rescinded the tariff exemption policy for small packages, prompting Korea Post to temporarily suspend its postal package service to the United States. The international postal system is grappling with the new declaration and tariff regulations. While the public may opt for alternative premium services or private express delivery, these options come with heightened costs and the necessity to pay tariffs. This shift in policy has significantly affected South Korea's cross-border e-commerce sector, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual businesses. Statistics reveal that last year, South Korean e-commerce sales to the US market constituted 20% of its total overseas sales.
