Ma Weichen, Deputy Director of the Regional Coordinated Development Department at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), disclosed that under the direction of the Sixth Meeting of the Central Financial and Economic Commission, the NDRC is collaboratively working with relevant departments to draft the 15th Five-Year Plan for Marine Economic Development and associated specialized plans. Ma Weichen stressed the need to intensify efforts in driving innovation, aiming to swiftly achieve breakthroughs in numerous pivotal core technologies, attain original and substantial accomplishments, and realize a high level of self-reliance and self-improvement in marine science and technology. Additionally, the plan emphasizes accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional marine industries, vigorously developing emerging sectors such as offshore wind power and marine biomedicine, and actively fostering future marine industries.
