Apple has initiated a pilot initiative, aiming to restore in-store iPad repair services to select Apple Store locations across the United States by the close of 2025. This move marks a potential shift from the conventional practice of shipping damaged devices to repair centers and providing temporary replacements. Currently, this program is being tested in 30 retail Apple Stores, primarily in the US, focusing on straightforward repairs like modular components. The objective is to substantially cut down repair times and enhance transparency for customers. It's important to note that not all Apple Stores will offer in-store repairs; only those with adequate back-of-house space will be eligible, with smaller stores continuing to offer mail-in repair services.
