Led by Xu Cao, a researcher at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a team has successfully developed "Jier," China's pioneering intelligent breeding robot capable of autonomous navigation and hybrid pollination. This robot, a fusion of biotechnology and artificial intelligence, is designed to minimize breeding costs, expedite breeding cycles, and elevate breeding efficiency. In operational commercial greenhouses, "Jier" has demonstrated reliable performance, pollinating each flower in just 15 seconds. It operates around the clock, performing autonomous navigation and hybrid pollination to ensure successful pollination. Furthermore, the development of "Jier 2.0" is underway, anticipated to broaden its application across various crops. Remarkably, over 95% of the robot's components are locally sourced.
