Telecommunications Business Revenue Hits RMB 748.8 Billion in First Five Months of 2025, With 5G User Base Nearing 1.1 Billion

During the first five months of 2025, China's cumulative telecommunications business revenue surged to RMB 748.8 billion, marking a 1.4% increase year-on-year. By the close of May, the total count of fixed broadband internet access users had climbed to 682 million, with ultra-high-speed users (those enjoying speeds of 1000Mbps and above) comprising 32.7% of the total. Notably, the number of 5G mobile phone users surpassed 1.098 billion, accounting for over 60% of the entire mobile phone user base. Concurrently, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.486 million, representing 35.3% of all mobile base stations. Furthermore, cumulative mobile internet traffic amounted to 153.7 billion GB, registering a 16.2% year-on-year growth.
