Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has sold ZT Systems' data center infrastructure manufacturing business to Sanmina Corporation for a whopping $3 billion. The deal comprises $2.25 billion in cash, a $300 million premium paid 50% in cash and 50% in equity, and up to $450 million in contingent consideration over the next three years, contingent upon the business's performance. Upon the successful conclusion of this transaction, Sanmina will assume the role of AMD's strategic partner in the development of AI computing systems. AMD had acquired ZT Systems for $4.9 billion in March of this year, initially intending to spin off its server manufacturing division.
