Notably, U.S. data centers will account for 45% of this global consumption, surpassing that of energy-intensive manufacturing industries. Despite the significant increase in data center emissions, their total contribution to global emissions is anticipated to remain below 1.5% by 2035. Additionally, power consumption for AI chip manufacturing is poised to skyrocket, experiencing a staggering 170-fold increase. Despite the energy-intensive nature of AI hardware production, its lifecycle energy consumption remains lower compared to its operational phase.
