The General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued a notification outlining plans to initiate 10Gbps optical network pilot programs in eligible cities and regions by the end of 2025. The focus of these pilots will be on covering residential areas, factories, parks, and other relevant scenarios. The primary objectives of these pilots are to tackle the challenges associated with the deployment of 10Gbps optical networks, foster collaboration among industry stakeholders, facilitate advancements in core technologies and key equipment, establish a robust industry chain and comprehensive industrial system, and steer the transition of 10Gbps optical networks from technical trials to widespread deployment and application.
