OpenAI has pledged that at its self-built data center campuses across the United States, it will proactively reduce electricity consumption when extreme weather or emergencies strain the power grid. The commitment comes as the enormous power demands of AI computing centers have sparked public and political pushback and slowed expansion, prompting OpenAI to move forward with building its own data centers.
