The A-share market wrapped up October on a downbeat note, with all three major indices closing lower. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.44%, the Shenzhen Component Index dropped 2.73%, and the ChiNext Index declined 4.13%. Computing power stocks plunged sharply, with Eoptolink Technology and Victory Giant Technology tumbling over 13%, while Lianxun Instruments, Hua Hong Semiconductor, and T&S Communications each shed more than 8%. Bucking the broader downtrend, liquor and pharmaceutical stocks strengthened, with Huangtai Liquor, Gujing Gongjiu, Luzhou Laojiao, and Wanbang Pharmaceutical hitting the daily limit up, while Nearshore Protein and Ruizhi Pharmaceutical gained over 10%. Across the entire market, nearly 4,600 individual stocks ended in the red.
