On October 9, Yandex, a prominent Russian technology and artificial intelligence firm, announced on Friday that several modules at its data center in Kaluga Oblast had been entirely disabled due to a drone strike. This incident marked the second attack on the same data center within a span of just two days. While some services might experience disruptions, there were, fortunately, no reports of casualties.

The previous day, Ukrainian drones had targeted another Yandex data center in Ryazan Oblast. This particular center is home to two out of the three supercomputers crucial for the development of Yandex's AI models. Yandex stated that it is currently evaluating the extent of the damage and is unable to confirm at this stage whether the affected equipment can be restored to operation.

Since the onset of this year, both Russia and Ukraine have intensified their drone strikes on economic targets. These attacks have encompassed a wide range of facilities, including energy installations, refineries, ports, ships, e-commerce warehouses, and data centers.
