On Thursday, India's Ministry of Communications stated that the country's authorization framework for satellite communication services treats all licensed enterprises equally. This comes after Elon Musk accused Indian 'oligarchs' of obstructing the launch of Starlink in India. The Ministry of Communications said that any claims suggesting unfairness or discrimination in the framework or approval process are 'unfounded and misconstrued.' According to the statement, three global enterprises providing satellite mobile personal communication services have already obtained telecommunications licenses, all utilizing non-geostationary orbit satellite communication technology and undergoing largely similar regulatory phases. The Ministry emphasized that licensees must first meet security requirements before receiving spectrum allocation, and currently, security assessments for the three enterprises are underway.
