On October 2, Amazon is taking proactive steps to cultivate its image as a 'good neighbor' in a bid to secure support for the development of its artificial intelligence data centers. On Friday, the cloud computing behemoth Amazon issued a memorandum underscoring the critical nature of vying for supremacy in the AI sector and detailing a range of initiatives aimed at bolstering the communities that host its data centers. Authored by Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services, the extensive 3,100-plus-word memo reveals Amazon's intention to pour over US$1 billion into these communities over the forthcoming five-year period. This investment will be directed towards local priorities, including education, vocational training, and water conservation efforts, and is set to be in addition to funds already earmarked for other projects.
