On September 30th, news emerged that China's pioneering integrated energy storage and computing initiative has recently broken ground in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. This groundbreaking project integrates grid-side energy storage power stations with distributed intelligent computing centers, thereby establishing a dynamic operational framework that harmonizes computing capabilities with electrical power. It achieves a comprehensive value-added chain, spanning from the generation of green electricity to the large-scale production of digital tokens, and paves the way for a novel paradigm in the synergistic development of computing and electricity sectors.
The project replaces conventional diesel backup generators with advanced energy storage systems, leading to a reduction in construction expenses and guaranteeing a consistent supply of eco-friendly electricity. Furthermore, by capitalizing on the flexible load attributes of computing power, it constructs a dynamic operational mechanism characterized by the principles of "computing adapting to electricity availability and electricity adjusting in response to computing demands." This approach effectively accommodates the intermittent and fluctuating nature of wind and solar power generation.
Moreover, the distributed green intelligent computing center, which is a key component of this project, facilitates the large-scale production of digital tokens. This capability, in turn, supports sophisticated digital application scenarios, including extensive model training exercises.
