In light of the resource consumption and environmental concerns triggered by the development of artificial intelligence (AI), the European Commission has unveiled a draft regulation. This regulation mandates that European data centers must publicly disclose their efficiency in energy and water usage. Slated for implementation starting August 2027, the regulation will require large-scale data centers to prominently display environmental labels. Such a rating system is designed to motivate data centers to pursue sustainable development paths.
