On Thursday, prior to the opening of the U.S. stock market, Generac revealed that it had secured a contract to supply backup generator sets for Amazon's data centers. The initial deliveries under this contract are slated for the period between 2027 and 2028. The total value of the contract stands at a substantial $2.4 billion, with the potential for the agreement to ultimately yield revenue of up to $8 billion. Propelled by this significant announcement, Generac's stock price experienced a remarkable surge, climbing by 34.5% to close at $235.55.

As a component of this transaction, Generac issued warrants to an Amazon subsidiary. These warrants grant the subsidiary the right to purchase up to 1.69 million shares of Generac's stock at a price of $200.9266 per share. This move reflects the strategic nature of the partnership and the confidence Amazon has in Generac's capabilities.

Several prominent analysts have expressed a favorable stance towards this agreement. Barclays, for instance, has assigned a 'Hold' rating to Generac's stock, setting a target price of $278. This indicates that while Barclays sees potential in the company, it may be adopting a cautious approach in the short term. Meanwhile, Bloomberg Intelligence is of the belief that this deal will serve as a significant catalyst for boosting Generac's earnings, highlighting the positive impact it is expected to have on the company's financial performance. Additionally, JPMorgan has given Generac an 'Overweight' rating, further underscoring the market's positive perception of the company in light of this agreement.
