On September 14, sources disclosed that Anthropic has inked a six-year computing agreement worth $13.7 billion with Rum Group. Rum Group, which has associations with the social media sphere and has had enduring ties with the Trump administration, was founded in 2013. Initially, the company positioned itself as a YouTube alternative tailored for small content creators and garnered significant attention from conservatives following the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Notably, Rum hosts Trump's Truth Social platform and also broadcasts official White House live streams.

This latest deal marks another milestone in Anthropic's series of cloud computing agreements clinched over the past year. Previous collaborators include leading cloud service providers like Google, tech giants such as SpaceX, and emerging smaller cloud entities like Nscale. The driving force behind these partnerships is the soaring demand for Anthropic's Claude Code and Cowork products. Collectively, these agreements represent a substantial computing capacity of at least 14,800 megawatts, with potential costs escalating up to $517 billion over the next decade. The Rum deal is poised to further augment this impressive total.
