The U.S. Department of Defense is negotiating a $5 billion loan with AI cloud platform startup Fluidstack. The loan, sourced from the Department's Office of Strategic Capital, aims to strengthen the supply chain and manufacturing capabilities for critical components of domestic data centers in the United States. If successful, this would represent the largest single loan to date from the office. Founded in 2017, Fluidstack relocated its headquarters to New York last December, with all 700 employees working in the U.S. The company has also signed multi-year leases for data centers across multiple states. Currently, the loan terms have not been finalized.
