During Wednesday morning's trading session, shares of Google A (GOOGL.US) plummeted nearly 3%, marking a fresh low since July 27, and were trading at $330.25 at that time. According to reports, Alphabet, Google's parent company, is set to make its most substantial single investment in Europe to date, with a total of at least €13 billion earmarked for Finland. This significant investment will be deployed over the next two years to construct at least three new data centers and expand existing facilities in Hamina. This move forms a part of Alphabet's broader strategy to expedite the expansion of AI computing power. Earlier in July this year, Alphabet had already revised its full-year capital expenditure forecast upwards to as much as $205 billion, aiming to cement its leading position in the fiercely competitive AI landscape.
