On August 27, following the announcement of financial results and guidance that outperformed Wall Street's projections, shares of cloud software giant Salesforce (CRM.N) experienced a significant 12% surge in after-hours trading on Wednesday. During the second quarter, Salesforce reported a revenue of $11.35 billion, marginally surpassing market estimates. Its net profit soared to $3.53 billion, marking an impressive 87% year-over-year increase. The company revealed that it had reaped strategic gains amounting to $2.6 billion from its investment in the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic. Looking ahead to the third fiscal quarter, Salesforce anticipates adjusted earnings per share to fall within the range of $3.42 to $3.44, with revenue projections set between $11.42 billion and $11.5 billion. Analysts had previously predicted adjusted earnings per share of $3.38 and revenue of $11.41 billion for the same period. At present, Salesforce expects its full-year earnings per share to range from $16.67 to $16.71, with revenue anticipated to be between $46.1 billion and $46.4 billion. This forecast indicates an 11% increase in full-year revenue, based on the midpoint of the projected range.
