On August 25, research institute Digitimes highlighted that, propelled by artificial intelligence (AI), infrastructure expenditures are on a continuous upward trajectory. It is anticipated that by the latter half of 2026, leading cloud service providers will intensify their focus on operational efficiency and financial prudence. In the second quarter of this year, the aggregated cloud business revenues of Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft soared to USD 106.3 billion, marking an annual growth rate of 43%—the highest since 2020. Digitimes forecasts that Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta will escalate their total capital expenditures to an unprecedented USD 745 billion. Although these companies maintain an optimistic outlook on AI demand, the escalating investment costs have begun to strain their free cash flow. Consequently, cloud service providers are actively pursuing cost-control measures, financial restructuring, and more streamlined AI service solutions to strike a balance between growth ambitions and investment risks.
