As traditional tracking methods relying on cookies gradually become less effective, certain companies have started to delve into more subtle approaches for data gathering. Recently, researchers revealed that AliExpress, Alibaba’s cross-border e-commerce platform, incorporates a concealed browser audio function within its homepage code. These scripts, which are linked to the platform’s security framework, create signals by activating the audio hardware on users’ devices. They then meticulously analyze the slight variations in the feedback signals from various devices. This technique enables the generation of distinct 'device fingerprints' without the need for cookies, and the tracking process largely goes unnoticed by users.
