As per reports, the UK government is in the process of crafting new rules that mandate technology giants like Apple and Google to integrate, as a default setting, systems capable of detecting explicit content within their devices and services. This move is designed to shield minors from exposure to any explicit imagery, encompassing social media videos as well as sexual scenes featured in films and TV programs. The core objective of these new regulations is to thwart minors' access to unsuitable content at both the device and platform levels, employing operating system-level blocking mechanisms and age verification procedures. Should companies neglect to meet their responsibilities, their top executives could potentially face imprisonment for up to five years.
