IBM plans to invest over US$10 billion in quantum computing over the next five years, covering research and development, capital expenditures, manufacturing scale-up, ecosystem collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions. The goal is to accelerate its quantum roadmap and achieve the delivery of the world's first large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029. IBM Quantum Starling will have computing power 20,000 times stronger than existing systems. Additionally, with support from the U.S. Department of Commerce, IBM plans to launch Anderon, the world's first pure quantum foundry, and invest US$1 billion in cash along with substantial intellectual property, assets, and technical personnel.
