According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, the extensive disruption of Luxembourg’s national communication network in 2025 stemmed from attackers exploiting a zero-day vulnerability within Huawei’s enterprise router software. This vulnerability had not been publicly disclosed prior to the incident, had not been assigned a CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) identifier, and no public alerts had been issued to inform other operators of the risk. The cyberattack led to a nationwide failure of mobile services, landline connections, and emergency communication systems, with the outage persisting for over three hours.
