On May 17, the 2026 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Conference took place in Wuhan, Hubei Province. At the conference, Chen Huaida, the Deputy General Manager of China Mobile, announced that as China Mobile steps into the "15th Five-Year Plan" era, it will harness the strengths of its vast network to elevate services such as mobile communications, broadband networks, cellular IoT, and satellite internet. The objective is to construct a top-tier communication network. The company is set to drive the transition from "dual gigabit" to "dual 10-gigabit" networks, ramp up research and development efforts in pivotal core technologies for communication networks like 5G-A, 6G, and satellite internet, bolster the security safeguards for critical information infrastructure, enhance risk mitigation capabilities, and expedite the establishment of a next-generation information infrastructure. This infrastructure will seamlessly integrate communication, sensing, computing, and intelligence, spanning across air, space, land, and sea, while ensuring utmost security and controllability.
