On May 14, Tongding Interconnection released an urgent clarification statement, refuting any existing business ties with NVIDIA. The company clarified that its cooperation with Corning is solely confined to the small-scale procurement of raw materials. Specifically, Tongding Interconnection buys optical fiber preforms from Corning for its production needs, with an average annual purchase volume of 187.25 tons spanning from 2023 to 2025. It emphasized that there is no exclusive supply agreement or any other form of extensive cooperation in place. Furthermore, the company outlined its strategy to diminish reliance on external procurement by ramping up in-house production in the future.
