On May 8, 2026, news emerged that the UK consumer organization 'Which?' had initiated legal proceedings against Apple at the end of 2024. The organization accused Apple of monopolizing its iCloud services, effectively locking in approximately 40 million users across the UK and undermining the interests of third-party cloud storage service providers. Despite Apple's efforts to exclude non-paying users from the lawsuit, the court dismissed this attempt. At present, the lawsuit has advanced to the trial stage, encompassing both free and paid iCloud users. Should Apple lose the case, it would be required to pay an estimated £3 billion in damages, with each eligible user potentially receiving around £70.
