On the evening of May 2, 2026, Beijing Time, the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders' meeting was held in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. At the meeting, CEO Greg Abel stated that the large-scale construction of data centers and their electricity demand on the power grid are creating significant growth opportunities for the utilities industry. Taking Iowa's hyperscale data centers as an example, current energy demand is far from reaching the peak capacity of the power grid, with data centers already accounting for 8% of actual electricity consumption, falling within the industry's target range (5% to 10%). Abel expects that over the next five years, the scale of this business could grow by an additional 50% or even more. Currently, half of Berkshire's energy companies have begun to meet AI-related electricity demands and are continuously tracking industry trends and the actual potential for business implementation.
