The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts that electricity consumption in the United States will reach a new high in 2025 and continue to climb in 2026 and 2027. Specifically, electricity demand is expected to rise from 4,195 billion kilowatt-hours in 2025 to 4,244 billion kilowatt-hours in 2026, and reach 4,381 billion kilowatt-hours in 2027. This growth is primarily driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers, along with increased electricity usage by households and businesses, reducing reliance on fossil fuels for heating and transportation.
