"Space computing power" is a term that's rapidly gaining traction. The escalating demand for artificial intelligence computing capabilities, coupled with the swift expansion of global low-Earth orbit satellite constellations, has propelled space into the spotlight as a novel arena for national investment in computing resources. Guo Zebang, the Director of the Information Technology Industry Bureau at the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, announced plans to establish the Beijing Space Computing Power Innovation Center. This center will serve as a hub for industry, academia, and research to collaborate in validating the development of comprehensive satellite systems and addressing critical technologies, including radiation-hardened chips and onboard thermal control mechanisms. Looking ahead, a diverse array of participants from industry, academia, and research sectors will work in tandem to expedite the construction of a collaborative computing network that bridges space and Earth.
