At present, large-scale models and intelligent agents are rapidly transitioning from the digital realm into real-world environments. However, embodied AI and robots still encounter challenges, such as erratic movements and sluggish responses, in practical applications, making their performance appear ‘unpolished.’ During the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum, Academician Zhang Ping highlighted that 6G technology will surmount these obstacles by integrating communication and sensing capabilities, facilitating intent transmission, and enabling real-time interaction. The fundamental advancement of 6G lies in its integration of communication and sensing, which allows robots to perceive the physical world in real time and make instantaneous decisions without relying on pre-trained models. This results in a seamless ‘perception-decision-execution’ cycle in dynamic settings. Furthermore, 6G transforms communication from mere ‘data transmission’ to ‘intent transmission,’ mitigating response delays by conveying only essential instructions through intent comprehension and efficient data compression. Zhang Ping stressed that 6G is the crucial enabler for intelligent agents to function effectively in the physical world, ensuring smooth operation and efficient teamwork.
