On March 10, AXIOS reported that companies such as Google and Tesla have formed a new alliance called Utilize, aiming to address energy affordability issues by utilizing underused grid capacity. Currently, soaring demand from sources like AI data centers is driving up electricity prices, making the issue of energy affordability increasingly prominent. The Utilize alliance plans to collaborate with state legislators, regulators, and utility companies to optimize grid operations, ensuring both supply reliability and accelerated construction speed. Alliance officials revealed that a research report by the Brattle Group will soon be released, showing that through systemic improvements, US consumers could save up to $180 billion over the next decade. In addition to Google and Tesla, alliance members include air conditioning giant Carrier, deployment services company Sparkfund, electrical panel enterprise SPAN, and data center developer Verrus.
