As reported by Tom's Hardware, in early 2025, OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank came together to initiate the 'Stargate' AI infrastructure project, with a grand plan to invest a staggering $500 billion in the construction of numerous data centers. However, the project encountered roadblocks, primarily stemming from disputes over asset ownership and the distribution of financial responsibilities among the partners. These disagreements led to several months of stagnation. But now, after a period of hiatus, the 'Stargate' project is firmly back on course. The three collaborating entities have made significant headway on multiple sub-projects. Take, for instance, a particular data center: SoftBank has taken charge of developing the site, while OpenAI retains the design rights and has secured a long-term lease for the facility. In line with its ambitious plans, OpenAI is currently in the midst of a fresh $10 billion funding round. The company has set its sights on achieving a valuation of $800 billion, a testament to its unwavering commitment to driving innovation in the AI sector.
