On Wednesday, Microsoft unveiled its financial report, revealing a deceleration in the growth trajectory of its Azure cloud computing division. The company also projected that its capital expenditures would soar beyond $100 billion this year. This news triggered a sharp decline in Microsoft's stock price over the following two trading sessions, wiping out a staggering $381 billion in market value. This marked Microsoft's most dismal weekly showing since March 2020. A portfolio manager, who holds Microsoft shares, commented that the current valuations of tech stocks hinge on the tangible returns generated from AI-related capital investments. Consequently, many investors have started to partially divest from tech stocks. Data indicates that the 'Magnificent Seven' tech index has dropped by 1.5% since hitting an all-time peak three months ago. In contrast, the S&P 500 index has edged up by 0.7% during the same timeframe.
