As reported by Reuters, individuals with inside knowledge of the situation have disclosed that Amazon is gearing up to launch a second round of layoffs next week. This move is part of the company's broader strategy to reduce its corporate workforce by roughly 30,000 employees. The magnitude of this upcoming round of layoffs is anticipated to mirror that of the previous one in October last year, when 14,000 white-collar workers were let go. The current round of layoffs could potentially commence as early as next Tuesday. Notably, the layoffs carried out in October last year constituted approximately half of Amazon's overall target of 30,000 job reductions.
