Local law enforcement authorities have revealed that officials from the U.S. federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out an enforcement action at the construction site of Meta's most expansive data center project, located in a rural region of Louisiana. During the operation, ICE officers stopped and inspected dump trucks en route to the site. This led to the apprehension of two individuals owing to concerns regarding their immigration status. The detainees hail from Guatemala and Honduras, respectively. It's important to note that ICE agents did not step foot onto Meta's construction site premises during this operation. Both Meta and its primary contractor have not yet issued any statements in response to inquiries seeking their comment on the matter.
