Global telecommunications equipment giant Ericsson recently conducted a media briefing to elucidate its newly published 'Ericsson Mobility Report November 2025' and 'CTO Technology Trends Report 2025'. The event saw attendance from esteemed guests, including Wu Lidong, Vice President of Ericsson Northeast Asia, who participated in media interviews and shared profound insights on the current state of 5G development, the outlook for 6G, the transformation of operators' business models, and upcoming technological trends. According to the report, by the close of 2025, a total of 118 distinct connectivity use cases, leveraging 5G SA network slicing, have been documented worldwide, with 65 of these cases already achieving commercialization. Ericsson projects that by the end of 2031, the global number of 5G subscriptions will soar to 6.4 billion, representing two-thirds of all mobile subscriptions. Additionally, Ericsson has pinpointed four emerging technological trends—autonomous artificial intelligence, integrated sensing and communication, innovations in optical and wireless technologies, and quantum computing—that are poised to revolutionize the telecommunications industry landscape.
