On December 22, 2025 (local time), Alphabet, the parent company of Google, announced that it would acquire data center and energy infrastructure company Intersect for $4.75 billion in cash plus the assumption of debt. This acquisition aims to accelerate the construction of new data centers and power facilities, expand computing and energy capacity, and support the development of AI businesses. Intersect will continue to operate independently and will be led by its former CEO, with its core team and multiple gigawatt-scale energy and data center projects being integrated into Alphabet.
