China's Digital Consumption User Base Surpasses 958 Million

Based on the Digital Consumption Development Report (2025) issued by the Policy and International Cooperation Department of the China Internet Network Information Center, in the first six months of 2025, China's aggregate digital consumption amounted to RMB 9.37 trillion. The number of digital consumption users has soared past 958 million, representing 85.3% of the total internet user population and 68.1% of the nation's entire populace. Digital consumption is rapidly emerging as a pivotal force propelling overall consumption.

Regarding the consumption structure, tangible goods, digital services, and digital content constituted 66.3%, 29.2%, and 4.5% of the total digital consumption, respectively. In terms of user demographics, Generation Z, individuals aged 60 and above (often referred to as the "silver-haired generation" in Chinese cultural context), and rural users made up 27.2%, 12.2%, and 26.0% of the digital consumption user base, respectively.
