South Korean e - commerce giant Coupang, often dubbed as South Korea's Amazon and the nation's largest online retailer, has gained widespread recognition for its ultra - fast 'Rocket' delivery service. Recently, Coupang disclosed that the personal information of around 33.7 million customer accounts was compromised and leaked as a result of unauthorized access. All the affected customers are based in South Korea.
Coupang clarified that the leaked data solely encompassed names, email addresses, phone numbers, delivery addresses, and a portion of order histories. It did not include any payment - related details or login credentials. At present, the investigation is still in progress. Coupang has committed to maintaining close cooperation with law enforcement and regulatory authorities throughout the process.
