Amazon has revealed its ambitious plan to invest around US$15 billion in northern Indiana, U.S., with the goal of constructing a data center campus. This strategic move is set to bolster its cloud computing capabilities and cater to the ever-growing demands of artificial intelligence.

This latest endeavor follows closely on the heels of Amazon's previous substantial investment of US$11 billion last year. The new project is expected to bring about a significant boost in capacity, adding an impressive 2.4 gigawatts. Moreover, it will create 1,100 job opportunities, contributing to the local economy.

Since 2010, Amazon's cumulative investment in the state has already surpassed US$31.3 billion, demonstrating its long-term commitment to the region.

In addition to this, Amazon is also planning to invest up to US$50 billion to enhance the artificial intelligence and supercomputing capabilities for AWS's U.S. government customers. It's worth noting that these two projects are independent investment initiatives.

As for the Indiana project, an agreement has already been reached with NIPSCO, paving the way for its smooth implementation.
