On November 20, Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, disclosed in Jakarta that Indonesia is actively engaged in negotiations with Singapore and Malaysia to co-establish a 'trilateral data center'. This ambitious project is slated for implementation across three locations: Indonesia, Singapore, and Johor in Malaysia. The primary objectives of this initiative are to bolster regional digital infrastructure connectivity, fortify the data sovereignty and disaster recovery capabilities of the three nations, and foster the aggregation of high-value-added sectors, including cloud services and artificial intelligence. At present, details regarding the investment scale and timeline remain undisclosed.
