On Wednesday, Google declared that, in anticipation of the EU Data Act's official rollout on September 13, it will do away with data transfer fees for enterprises in the EU and UK that "simultaneously" leverage two or more cloud platforms to handle workloads. This strategic step is designed to align with the fresh regulations, slash the costs businesses face when moving and processing data across various cloud platforms, and empower customers to distribute workloads more flexibly among diverse cloud service providers, all while keeping extra expenses from data migration to a minimum. This policy will benefit all Google Cloud customers based in the EU and UK, representing a major shift by cloud service providers to better fit into the EU's data regulatory landscape.
