Cloudflare has recently triumphantly announced the successful defense against the largest Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack ever recorded, peaking at an astonishing 11.5 terabits per second (Tbps). This attack aimed to overwhelm the target's bandwidth and system resources by flooding it with an immense amount of data, effectively blocking legitimate users from accessing the service. Despite being pushed to its limits, Cloudflare's robust defense system managed to fend off the attack, which was initially misidentified as primarily originating from Google Cloud but was later corrected to have been launched from a combination of various Internet of Things (IoT) devices and cloud service providers.
