On August 14, Cisco, the preeminent global manufacturer of networking equipment, unveiled a cautious growth projection for the current fiscal year, falling short of investors' hopes for substantial expansion propelled by AI data center initiatives. On Wednesday, Cisco announced that for the fiscal year culminating in July 2026, it anticipates sales to fall within a range of $59 billion to $60 billion. While the midpoint of this range aligns closely with Wall Street's consensus estimate of $59.5 billion, it falls beneath certain analysts' prior expectations of $61 billion. Cisco is actively pursuing opportunities to capitalize on the surge in AI spending. The company has reportedly secured over $800 million in orders for AI network infrastructure, marking an increase from the $600 million booked in the preceding quarter. Cisco noted that cloud computing firms are accelerating the development of AI-focused data centers, which in turn is bolstering the demand for Ethernet network upgrades.
