Recently, Associate Professor Chen Hao and Professor Zhao Yixin of the Future Photovoltaic Research Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Puyan Future Technology Institute, alongside Researcher Wang Zaiwei from the Carbon Neutrality Institute at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have published a groundbreaking review titled 'All-Perovskite Multi-Junction Solar Cells: The Rising Star of Ultrahigh-Efficiency Photovoltaics' in the prestigious international journal Advanced Energy Materials. Joining them as co-authors are Research Assistant Ren Dongxu, direct Ph.D. student Gu Xinyu from the 2025 intake, and postdoctoral researcher Zhang Xiang from Chen Hao's research team.

The review focuses on all-perovskite multi-junction solar cells, which offer a promising avenue to surpass the efficiency limitations of single-junction photovoltaic devices by integrating multiple light-absorbing layers with complementary bandgaps. Despite their potential, this technology encounters significant challenges, such as the oxidation sensitivity of Sn²⁺ in narrow-bandgap perovskites and the intricate task of precisely managing crystallization dynamics. The review meticulously compiles the latest research advancements in this field, delves into the underlying mechanisms causing performance degradation, and systematically examines various strategies for optimizing perovskite light-absorbing layers, charge transport materials, and interconnecting layers.

Furthermore, the paper presents a forward-looking perspective on the future trajectory of this burgeoning photovoltaic technology, offering insights into potential breakthroughs and directions for further research.
