Tesla has inked a $4.3 billion (approximately RMB 30.32 billion) battery supply agreement with South Korea's LG Energy Solution (LGES). Reuters reports that LGES will furnish Tesla's energy storage systems with lithium iron phosphate batteries, produced at their facility in Michigan, USA. This strategic move underscores Tesla's attempt to mitigate its dependence on Chinese-imported lithium iron phosphate batteries, which have been subjected to tariff pressures. The agreement spans a three-year term, inclusive of optional provisions for extending the partnership and scaling up supply volumes.
