The National Key Laboratory of Brain-Machine Intelligence at Zhejiang University has officially launched a groundbreaking new neuromorphic brain-like computer named Darwin Monkey, affectionately known as 'Wukong' in Chinese. This pioneering machine boasts over 2 billion neurons, making it the world's first brain-like computer to achieve such a milestone, leveraging cutting-edge dedicated neuromorphic chips. The system comprises 15 blade servers, each equipped with 64 self-developed Darwin 3 brain-like chips, resulting in a neuron count comparable to that of a macaque brain. This monumental advancement positions China at the forefront of global brain-like computing technology. This achievement promises to furnish researchers with novel tools for artificial intelligence and brain science, thereby fostering the evolution of brain-inspired intelligence.
