U.S. Stock Market Indices Close Mixed; NVIDIA Drops Over 2%

On July 23, the three major U.S. stock indices ended the trading session with varied results. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4%, the S&P 500 index inched up by 0.06%, whereas the Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 0.39%. Among individual stocks, Tesla's share price appreciated by more than 1%, but NVIDIA and Broadcom declined by 2% and 3%, respectively. In terms of sector performance, coking coal and precious metals shone brightly, with Coeur Mining Inc. surging 4% and Pan American Silver Corp. advancing 2%. Conversely, the semiconductor equipment and materials sector, along with the stablecoin concept sectors, experienced declines. Circle plunged 8%, KLA Corporation fell 4%, and ASML also dipped by nearly 2%.
